TimBen Boydston, a candidate for a seat on the Santa Clarita City Council in the upcoming election, will open his campaign headquarters at 24303 Walnut Street, across from Veterans Park in Newhall, with an open house on Thursday, Feb. 9, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“I would like to thank all the people who made this happen,” Boydston said in a statement. “It will be great to have the headquarters of our grass-roots campaign in historic Old Town Newhall. From here we will win back Santa Clarita City Hall for the people of this valley, one neighborhood at a time.”
Boydston will attend the open house to further discuss his goals and ideas for the city. Campaign officials will hold a brief meeting following the open house.

At the open house, Boydston supporters will be able to sign up to volunteer on a variety of committees, including working on the phone bank and precinct walking. Yard signs will also be available, as will opportunities for donations to Boydston’s campaign and endorsements for his candidacy.
Boydston’s headquarters will be open evenings and weekends.
Newhall resident and 1973 Canyon High School graduate Boydston is one of five Santa Clarita locals vying for two seats on the council in the April 10 election, along with incumbents Mayor Laurie Ender and Councilman Bob Kellar, and challengers Ed Colley, a member of the Castaic Lake Water Agency Board, and Jon Hatami, an L.A. Country Assistant District Attorney.
Boydston, executive director of the Canyon Theatre Guild, served on the City Council for 16 months in 2006 and 2007, appointed by the rest of the council to fill the term after Cameron Smyth was elected to the California Assembly. Boydston made an unsuccessful bid for a council seat in 2010.
The address for the Committee to Elect TimBen Boydston City Council 2012 is 19623 Green Mountain Drive, Santa Clarita, CA 91321. The campaign’s website is www.timben.com.
