Youth charity snag exclusive deal to sell tickets as fundraiser.
The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley will be
the exclusive organization to sell tickets for the upcoming AT&T Champions Classic Golf
Tournament in the Santa Clarita Valley.
John Mahaffey, President of the Club and Craig Peters,
President of the Club’s Foundation (the fundraising arm of the Club) announced
the collaborative effort with the AT&T Champions Classic to be held from March 9-15, 2009 at the Valencia
Country Club in Santa Clarita.
Ticket sales will benefit the work of the local Boys & Girls
Club that was founded in the Santa Clarita Valley 40 years ago.
“It is exciting to be a part of one of only thirty annual
PGA Champions Tour events across the country,” Mahaffey said. “The week-long
tournament, featuring the top players on the PGA Champions Tour, contributes an
estimated $19.2 million each year to the greater Los
Angeles area, with a direct local impact in the Santa
Clarita Valley of $8.3 million.”
Peters added, “We are very pleased to participate in order
to assist our ‘kids’ with their potential growth and learning
Some of the PGA tour greats scheduled to play in the 2009
event include defending champion Denis Watson, 2007 winner Tom Purtzer and 2006
winner Tom Kite, as well as Ben Crenshaw, Craig Stadler, Raymond Floyd, Gil
Morgan and Des Smyth.
