October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and one Santa Clarita organization is setting sail to combat the disease.
On October 3, Soroptomist International of the Santa Clarita Valley will hold its 7th Annual “Bras for a Cause – Ports O’Call” at the Oaks Grille-Tournament Players Club in Valencia.

An international theme will run through the event, displayed in both the food offered and the extravagant bras that are part of the silent auction.
Each bra is inspired by a different port from around the world, including those from the Bahamas, Australia and Ireland.
The New Orleans-inspired bra is called, of course, the “Mardi Bra.”
Sandy Naba, President Elect of the SISCV Board of Directors, submitted a bra that evokes a Scottish theme and was made in honor of a friend who survived cancer.
“It’s just a beautiful event,” said Naba.
All proceeds will go to organizations and facilities that the club supports, including Circle of Hope and the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center.
Part of the larger Soroptomist International, the Santa Clarita Valley charter strives to improve the lives or women and girls through programs, global membership, public awareness and fundraising opportunities.
The event will last from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $65 and can be purchased at the door.
