Brawls And Booze Keep Deputies Busy

Fights and drunk drivers make for an active Saturday night.
Alcohol figured significantly into the criminal activity Saturday night that kept deputies in the Santa Clarita Valley very busy.

Sgt. Ron Price gave KHTS the rundown:

  • Around 6:30 p.m., two tow truck drivers got into a fight in the Granada Villa Mobile Home Park in Canyon Country over the right to tow certain vehicles. At one point, a baseball bat was produced and a driver was threatened and a vehicle was damaged when the opposing driver tried to drive it off the rig.
  • A man was arrested for being drunk at the Santa Clarita homeless shelter on Centre Pointe Drive.
  • A 20-year old man was arrested for felony driving under the influence after he caused a collision at Sarita Avenue and Deepcreek Drive in Canyon Country. Anthony Ray Hardy was driving the car that hit another vehicle, injuring both passengers in his car and the one he hit. Price told KHTS that Hardy climbed over a young woman sitting in the passenger seat, who had suffered a broken sternum in the crash, to attempt to flee the scene. He is being held at the Santa Clarita station in lieu of $100,000 bail. Hardy also has a record of being arrested twice in December 2008.
  • A 17-year-old girl was taken into custody with a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit after she drove her car into a pole at Kenton Lane and Copper Hill Drive.
