BREAKING NEWS: Cross Fire Fully Contained, Roads Open

The Cross Fire has now reached one hundred percent containment. The final total of acres burned is 665, and the cost of fighting the fire is estimated at $1.1 million dollars. All roads, including Placerita Canyon and Sand Canyon, are now open.

The cause of the fire is suspicious in nature.  During the fire fighting efforts there were crews both on the ground and in the air working to contain the blaze.  Several water dropping helicopters were used including two new Blackhawks that can drop 1,000 gallons of water at a time.

There was one minor, heat related injury to a firefighter.  Abandoned structures were destroyed on the property where pyrotechnic devices were manufactured, including those used to detonate automobile airbags.
