Santa Clarita Valley Sheriffs Captain Anthony La Berge of Canyon Country was recently named as the new Chief of Police for the Santa Clarita Valley station, bringing more than 20 years of experience with the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department to his new post. La Berge currently serves as Captain for the Office of Homeland Security, Transit Services South Bureau where he works as a unit commander, supervising over 200 sworn and professional staff as part of the dual command for the nation’s second largest transit policing agency. As unit commander, La Berge is charged with providing security and law enforcement services for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus and light rail systems in the southern areas of Los Angeles County.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be named as the new police chief at the Santa Clarita Valley Station. I believe my experience and my enthusiasm for this new challenge, combined with the great team at the SCV Station will be a benefit to the community,” commented La Berge.
“Anthony brings a broad range of experience to the job and has great ideas for the Santa Clarita Valley Station,” added Ken Pulskamp, City Manager.
Captain La Berge will begin his new job on January 2, 2007.
