“(Lively) stays committed to regular and yearly community service involvement in addition to his busy law practice, church and home-life,” according to a statement from the SCV Man and Woman of the Year website.

“Gray moved with her two daughters to Newhall in 1984 to provide them with wonderful schools and a small, rural, close-knit community,” according to the organization’s site. “Being a single mother of a 14 and 4 year old, her volunteer time was dedicated to her daughters’ schools. In 1988, she became active in the SCV Boys’ and Girls’ Club annual auction. From that point the number of local organizations to benefit from Cheryl’s leadership and volunteering has grown exponentially.”

Lively has been involved with the Senior Center for 10 years, the Rotary Club of Santa Clarita for 25 years and a member of the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce for more than 30 years. He’s also been on the SCV Food Pantry’s Board of Directors, a trustee for the College of the Canyons Foundation, on the board for Family Promise and involved with the Santa Clarita Valley Arts Council.

The two were among 29 finalists named by dozens of the Santa Clarita Valley nonprofits they supported. There were 15 men and 14 women selected.
