BREAKING: Firefighters Stop Tesoro Fire Near Copper Hill After 2.5 Acres Burned

Firefighters have extinguished the 2.5 acre brush fire near Copper Hill Drive at the corner of Tesoro Del Valle Drive and Rancho Tesoro Drive in Valencia.

UPDATE 11:45 a.m. — LACoFD officials on scene have announced that the Tesoro Fire was extinguished at 11:34 a.m. on Monday, according to LACoFD spokesperson Vanessa Lozano.

UPDATE 11:22 a.m. — Officials are reporting that they have a handle on the Tesoro Fire.

“Forward progression of the fire has been stopped and is being held at 2.5 acres,” said LACoFD Inspector Sal Alvarado.

No injuries have been reported, and investigators are still looking for the cause for the fire as of 11:22 a.m. on Monday, according to Alvarado.

Los Angeles County Fire Department officials confirmed that they are responding to a brush fire — dubbed the Tesoro Fire — that was first reported around 10:50 a.m. Monday.

“Units are on the scene of a brush fire (that) is at half an acre in light fuels running up hills,” said LACoFD Inspector David Michel. “There are currently no structures threatened. However, there are high tension power lines over the fire.”

Light wind speeds have been reported at 4 mph in the area, but temperatures could reach as high as 102 degrees today, according to the National Weather Service.
