UPDATE: A car chase that began in Santa Clarita during a traffic stop near Rye Canyon Rd. early Monday afternoon moved onto the northbound side of the 14 freeway as law enforcement officials chased a suspect.

UPDATE 3:38 p.m.: The vehicle was stolen out of the Santa Paula area, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials. The 26-year-old male suspect is also from the Santa Paula area.
UPDATE 12:53 p.m.: According to Marvin Lim, spokesperson for LACoFD, medical personnel were called on scene to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision that was the result of the chase.
But when officials arrived on scene there was no patient, according to Lim.
UPDATE 12:41 p.m.: “The suspect was in a stolen vehicle and then fled off the Old Road, and CHP took over once he got onto the freeway,” said Sgt. Dan Dantice, Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station.
The suspect then fled on foot after crossing multiple lanes on the northbound side of the 14 freeway, according to officials.
UPDATE 12:39 p.m.: The male suspect was taken into custody at approximately 12:35 p.m. on Monday
Shortly before noon, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies were conducting a traffic stop when a suspect decided to then take off, according to officials.

The pursuit began near Rye Canyon and eventually led Santa Clarita deputies down the Old Road and onto the I-5 freeway.
As of 12:30 p.m., the pursuit has ventured on to the northbound side of the freeway, and CHP Newhall officers are in pursuit.
