One person has died while six other’s injuries are unknown in a multi-vehicle collision Sunday on the I-5 freeway in Castaic.

“There is one confirmed fatality but we have no information about injuries,” said Officer Jennifer Cassidy of the California Highway Patrol. “The number three and four lanes are expected to be closed for about three hours.”
The collision was reported at 1:58 p.m., according to Los Angeles County Fire Department officials.
CHP, Los Angeles County Fire Department Stations 149, 124, 76, 126 and Los Angeles County Department of Coroner‘s officials reported to the I-5 North near the lower freeway crossover a couple miles north of Lake Hughes Road.

“It’s one vehicle versus two parked vehicles,” said Rey Dong, supervising fire dispatcher for LACFD.
Update: 3:21 p.m.
“We’re still enroute to the scene,” said Captain John Kades of the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner’s office. “We have to confirm (the identity of the deceased) with fingerprints and notify the next of kin.”
There were nine total patients, four were transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, two declined medical attention, two “met the trauma criteria guidelines” and one was dead on arrival, said Cheryl Sims, supervising fire dispatcher for the LACFD.
Officials are still investigating the incident. This is breaking news and the story will be updated as more information becomes available.
