The call came in at 5:52 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Whites Canyon Road and Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country.
“We got a call from a transient man in the wash who said a woman had given birth in the wash there. (The informant said) the woman walked off into the wash and left the baby after giving birth,” said Detective Thomas Brooks with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “The man called for paramedics and reported that she abandoned the baby.”
Deputies found the woman, who had been living in a homeless camp for a couple days, about an hour later hiding in a tree, Brooks said.
“She’s already been transported to the hospital along with the baby,” said Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Art Marrujo.
The newborn girl and her mother were transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital where both are listed in good condition, according to a news release.
The woman is expected to be booked at the SCV Sheriff’s Station for child endangerment charges, Brooks said.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives are investigating the incident.

My husband and i are very interested in fostering this newborn baby in hopes to adopt. We already have a 9yr. Old boy who we legally adopted in 2009. I have already called the Sheriff’s Dept. D.C.F.S, Social Workers from Henry Mayo and have had no luck. Please contact as soon as you can, for we are willing to update are foster license and do anything of significance that would bring us closer to making a home for this baby in need.
Sincerely,
Tina L. Buchanan
What’s her name? Why not publish her name?
Ms.Boyer,
Would you follow-up on the baby girl and what she has to go through as a “drug-baby”
I think it just might help someone NOT do drugs? The poor little angel, so sad!!
Thank you
