Update: Fatal Vehicle Versus Pedestrian Collision Reported In Canyon Country

Emergency officials responded to a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian collision on southbound Whites Canyon Monday morning.

The pedestrian was identified as Joshua Luis Munoz, 18, of Canyon Country and was pronounced deceased at the scene at 6:20 a.m., according to Assistant Chief Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

The call came in at 6:08 a.m. Monday on Whites Canyon Road between Nadal Street and Steinway Street, said Lt.Tom Bryski with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Munoz was fatally struck by a sedan, Bryski said. The driver and passenger of the sedan were not injured.

Los Angeles County Department of Coroner officials are en route to the scene, Bryski said.

The man was crossing the street before the collision, said Sgt. Richard Cohen with the SCV Sheriff’s Station’s Traffic Division.
