300-Acre Brush Fire Burning In Castaic, Six Structures Lost

Angeles National Forest and the Los Angeles County Fire Department are responding to an approximately 300-acre brush fire on Lake Hughes Road in Castaic.

The fire, named the Warm Fire, is still growing has the potential to grow up to 2,000 acres, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Supervisor Miguel Ornelas.

The fire is mainly in the hands of the Angeles National Forest, but the LACoFD is assisting with structure defense said Ornelas.

There is no containment as of 6:15 p.m., said Ornelas.

Six outbuildings have been lost due to the fire,  however no homes have been lost Ornelas said.

Lake Hughes Road is closed at Lake Elizabeth in Castaic due to the fire, according to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.

The fire is in heavy brush and is moving east, LACoFD Supervisor Cheryl Sims said.
