“Thank you to the city of Santa Clarita and KHTS Radio for providing accurate information during the fire,” said English. “Be careful about false, inaccurate, or incomplete information.”

A photo of a home on fire that was not a part of the Calgrove fire, and was not a fire that had taken place in the Santa Clarita Valley was being circulated, said English. There was one garage that was burned during the Calgrove fire, however Firefighters did an amazing job saving the home and it was not damaged.

“With social media, a lot of reports were flying around with the Calgrove fire. Our station received numerous reports from Santa Clarita residents about possible leads that turned out to be inaccurate,” said Jeri Seratti-Goldman, owner of KHTS AM-1220. “KHTS will always confirm facts with officials before we release information to the public. Our news team strives to publish the most accurate, up to the minute information.”

Staying aware of updates within an emergency information can be helpful, but always use trusted news sources when doing so, said Seratti-Goldman.
