Fire, Sheriff’s Officials Investigate Castaic Mobile Home Fire

Los Angeles County officials are investigating a house fire after a 73-year-old woman was found dead in a Castaic mobile home.

Los Angeles County Fire officials responded to the house fire at 3:12 a.m. on the 31200 block of Heavenly Way in Castaic. 

The home was fully engulfed by the time officials arrived on scene. A man was found with burns on his hands and transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

An elderly woman was found inside the remains of the home, according to fire officials.

Sheriff’s Station officials said foul play is not suspected, and no arrests have been made in the incident. A Sheriff’s Department official said the Homicide Bureau was not called to the scene.

The identity of the woman is not being released at this time, a coroner’s official said.

Both fire and sheriff’s arson teams are still investigating the fire try and determine the cause.

UPDATE 1:57 P.M.

Los Angeles County Fire Department officials responded to a small house fire at the same Castaic mobile home on the 31200 block of Heavenly Way Sunday afternoon, said Supervising Fire Dispatcher Melanie Flores.

The fire was reported at 1:45 p.m. and knocked down around 1:56 p.m.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to the scene and said the fire “looked like it just reignited.”
