Thousands of people are currently displaced as a result of the Sand Fire, and 768 pets were being cared for in eight locations by the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control on Monday.

Animals under the care of county staff, volunteers and mutual aid partners include 345 horses, 165 goats, 111 chickens, 33 pigs and many others, including llama, mules, sheep, rabbits, ducks, turkeys, donkeys and even a Brahma bull.
Animal evacuation centers include: The Antelope Valley Fairgrounds, Hansen Dam and Pierce College.
County of Los Angeles Animal Care Centers at Lancaster, Agoura, Castaic and Palmdale are also providing care to evacuated pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs.
Shelter is also being provided for animals at the Hart and Highland evacuation centers, where emergency-sheltering Ani-Safe trailers are parked and manned by county staff, volunteers and partners, said officials.

Buckets for horse food and water can be donated to Antelope Valley Fairgrounds and Hansen Dam.
New Leash on Life was evacuated from their dog rescue and boarding facility on Placerita Canyon Road and is now operating out of a classroom at Hart High School.
They have 19 dogs, some that are being boarded and others that were rescued, said the displaced employees. If people would like to donate to New Leash on Life, they are in need of toys, sheets, blankets and towels.
They also need bins for food and water bowls that connect to the crates. (both pictured below.)
New Leash staff members expect to be displaced for a few more days, although they have heard their facility was saved from the fire.
