Following a mandatory order by the Los Angeles County Fire Department on Saturday, NLOL staff evacuated their 13-acre facility on Placerita Canyon Road and transported 34 boarding and rescue dogs to Hart High School in Newhall.
“We continue to provide the highest level of care for them as our top priority,” read a statement released by the organization Wednesday. “They are healthy, happy and receive an abundance of attention and love.”
A total of 19 dogs remained at the evacuation site Monday, some of which were boarding with the organization and others that are rescues available for adoption.
At the time of the release, Placerita Canyon Road remained closed and the condition of the NLOL property was uncertain. Evacuation orders were lifted Thursday morning, though the state of the property remained unknown.

NLOL officials said Wednesday that the organization “remains operational” in their temporary location at Hart High School, and are focusing on re-homing the adoptable dogs currently under their care.
“Please open your hearts and your homes to one or more of these wonderful dogs,” read the statement, directing the public to visit their website to view adoptable dogs and submit an application.
“The generous outreach and support from the community and beyond has been tremendous and we are grateful for all the help and assistance from individuals, merchants, Hart High School and the American Red Cross, who have established a shelter for displaced families at the same location,” the statement continued.
“Our support and best wishes are dedicated to the combined effort of all agencies involved in fighting this monster fire with selfless heroism and endless determination. Our dogs salute you!”
