As of 1:42 p.m., the fire is 75 percent contained, according to LACoFD officials.

The fire started at 12:03 p.m., and as of 2:00 p.m., the fire is in the mop up stages, said Sherry Rollman, public affairs officer for the Angeles National Forest.

The fire burned at a rapid rate of speed initially, but fire officials got it under control and slowed it down, said Rollman.

Between 120 and 140 fire personnel from the LACoFD and ANF are responding, Rollman said.

LACoFD Air Operations assisted the ANF fire officials and as of 2:00 p.m., helicopters are still running water drops, said Rollman.

No injuries or evacuations were reported, according to LACoFD officials. The wind speed was measured at about two to five MPH.

It is still under investigation, but ANF believes the fire was caused by a vehicle that went off the side of the freeway, Rollman said.

The #4 lane of the northbound I-5 is closed due to the fire, but the #3 lane has been reopened as of 4:05 p.m., according to CHP officials.

Southern California Edison has power lines in the area of the fire, however no customers have been impacted. Edison is currently “tracking the progress of the fire.”
