UPDATE 1:40 p.m.: A big-rig fire that started on the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 around 5:49 a.m. impacted traffic throughout Wednesday morning, officials said. However, as of 1:40 p.m. all lanes have been reopened.

Firefighters arrived on scene less than 10 minutes later to find the fuel tank of a tractor-trailer had burst leaving a 300’ by 300’ spot fire that spread to nearby brush, officials said.
I-5 traffic is now, as of about 8:45 a.m., reduced to one lane on Interstate 5 on the northbound side, near the 14 Freeway interchange.
While the fire was knocked down about a half-hour later, by 6:33 a.m., fire officials are still working on scene near Weldon Canyon Road.
A SigAlert is was in effect on the I-5 north for most of the morning, as three lanes are currently were closed for much of the rush hour traffic, according to the Newhall CHP office. Traffic was backed up from the location of the fire to near the 405 -5 interchange, according to traffic reports.
No injuries were reported in the blaze.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
