Fireworks Cause 1.5-Acre Brush Fire In Saugus

Fire officials have extinguished a 1.5-acre brush fire on the 22600 block of La Rochelle Drive, near Pamplico Drive in Saugus, Saturday afternoon.

The fire was caused by illegal fireworks, according to fire officials.

The fire was reported at 6:39 p.m. and firefighters were on scene at 6:44 p.m.

Fire officials said they had drawn a line around the fire shortly after 7 p.m. Aircraft were released at 7:12 p.m.

All units were released from the scene at approximately 8:00 p.m.

No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.

  1. So. Did anyone get arrested? Someone was shooting off huge aerial fireworks, it looked like it was down by the Copper Hill Bridge over San Francisquito Canyon. . Lots of others could be seen popping up across town. Fortunate that this was the only fire.

  2. It seems like the persons who started the fire, although unintentional, should have to pay the fire department, since it was started by illegal actions.

  3. We live in the area. The fire department was there so fast. Our neighberhood is thankful for the rapid responce.
