A hiker was hoisted from Towsley Canyon in Newhall Friday after suffering from a medical emergency, officials said.

Around 1:15 p.m. Friday, first responders received reports of a hiker who lost consciousness at Towsley Canyon in Newhall, said Austin Bennett, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Shortly after arriving on scene, firefighters requested a helicopter to hoist the hiker from the trail, according to fire officials.
“The patient was about two miles off the trail,” Bennett said.
By 2:10 p.m. the helicopter was able to transport the patient to an awaiting ambulance at the nearby Newhall Church of the Nazarene, where they were transported to the hospital, according to Fire officials.
The condition of the patient is unknown as of Friday afternoon
