The Thottapilly family went missing on April 5 after being seen in their last known location in Mendocino County north of San Francisco, according to a post from their family.
“He was the backbone of our family,” said Sachin Thottapilly, Sandeep’s brother. “He did everything he can to make sure all of their needs were provided.”
The Thottapilly family includes the father, Sandeep, 42; the mother, Soumya; their son, Siddhant, 12 and their daughter, Saachi, 9.
The family was on a road trip from Portland and was expected to visit a family member’s home in San Jose, but they never came.
“A family member received a call saying they were crossing the California border from Oregon,” said Sachin. “That was the last time we heard from them”
The family then filed a police report with the San Jose Police Department Saturday the day after they were expected to be at the San Jose home.
“We lost contact with them on April 5. Last known location is around Klamath – Redwood National Park Area,” reads the missing person flyer.
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station is assisting in the investigation with the SJPD, adding the family was not in their Valencia residence.
“A Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’ deputy went to the family’s home, and there was no one there at the location,” said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the SCV Station. “We are working with the San Jose Police Department to provide them with any information they may need.”
The daughter, Saachi, attends Meadows Elementary School, her brother, Siddhant, graduated from the elementary school last spring.
The missing poster on social media includes a phone number for people to call, and described the family’s car as a maroon Honda Pilot.
