The crash that killed three people in Palmdale on Friday is still being investigated, said officials.

“The collision is still under investigation,” Robinson said. “We are contacting witnesses today.”
The traffic collision between a 2013 Tesla, driven by Ric Garrison, 58 of Newhall, and a 2004 Toyota Corolla occurred around 10:30 p.m. on the southbound 14 Freeway near Avenue S.
“We’re still not sure exactly how the collision happened and that will determine if there are any charges,” said Sargeant B. Robinson of the Antelope Valley California Highway Patrol.

A 40-year-old male driver, a 13-year-old boy and an 8-year-old boy in the Toyota, who were presumed to be family members, were pronounced dead on arrival, according to the news release. Two others, Tyree Lavon Nash, a 31-year-old resident of Lancaster and a 6-year-old were extricated and flown to Antelope Valley Hospital and Children’s Hospita L.A.

Multiple innocent bystanders assisted with removing the survivors from the burning (Toyota), CHP Officer Jordan Richards said.
Drugs and alcohol do not seem to be involved in the collision, said officials.
All of the southbound SR-14 lanes were closed for several hours Friday through Saturday morning.
