The victim is only identified as a Caucasian male in his 50’s, said Lt. Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner.

The death appears to be a suicide, Winter said.

The victim was spotted by a passerby around 4:17 p.m., said Sgt. Brian Allen.

“There doesn’t appear to be foul play,” Allen said.

The Valencia Boulevard onramp was closed at approximately 6:25 p.m. due to police activity and all lanes were reopened at approximately 8:27 p.m., according to CHP officials.

Recent statistics indicate the North Los Angeles County region has the highest rate of calls for attempted and completed suicides in Los Angeles County, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department data.
