Witnesses and officials reported at least four cars were hit by the man, whom officials did not identify, after he was seen swerving in lanes on Highway 14.

Deputies and CHP officers were administering field sobriety tests as part of a potential DUI investigation as of 2 p.m. Wednesday.

SCV Sheriff’s deputies initially were called around 1:15 p.m to assist CHP, after the driver of a black Mercedes got off the freeway and pulled into the 76 Gas Station parking lot near Sand Canyon Road and Soledad Canyon Road, officials said.

The suspect allegedly struck four vehicles in the parking lot.
