Supervisors seeing how effective Senate bill would be. 
[view:node_ad=5]The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a motion by Supervisors Michael D. Antonovich and Zev Yaroslavsky to analyze how Senate Bill 1618 (Hollingsworth) may benefit County fire prevention efforts.

Firefighters combating the recent wildfires in Los Angeles County were hampered by brush that homeowners failed to clear.  In some instances county personnel had ordered the brush to be cleared, but clearance was delayed due to permitting issues among various state agencies.”

“The California Endangered Species Act should not impede our efforts to save lives and protect property during emergencies,” said Antonovich.  “The spread of fires impacts not just one property, but potentially hundreds of properties.”

The intent of Senate Bill 1618 is to mitigate fire damage due to brush accumulation — especially where state agencies have prohibited brush clearance citing environmental concerns.
