Brush Fire Burning Off I-5 Knocked Down

I-5 lanes now open, Sig Alert canceled for southbound I-5 at Templin Highway/2000 foot level.

UPDATED 1:24 a.m. Thursday


A Sig Alert was issued on the southbound I-5 above Castaic near Templin Highway at 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning for a brush fire that charred 5 acres.

LA County Fire air and ground units were able to put the fire out by 12:09 p.m.

The incident started as a car fire, and the cleanup of the vehicle will force two lanes of the I-5 to remain closed until about 12:50 p.m., according to LA County Fire officials.
