Building 1, Radio Car 0, But The Deputy Is OK

khts_crime_genericA deputy taking evasive action got a few bumps and bruises, but probably saved someone’s life with his quick thinking.

Deputy Kevin Duxbury was attempting to stop a driver who had run the red light at Bouquet Canyon and Soledad Canyon Roads at around 10 p.m.

As he pursued the driver, who was traveling eastbound, another car pulled into the adjacent lane and created somewhat of a hindrance.

The offending motorist, the second car and the deputy in his patrol unit were in motion when another vehicle turned left from a parking lot behind U.S. HealthWorks, into oncoming traffic. The deputy immediately responded by turning his vehicle away from the car turning left, lost control of the radio car and hit the storefronts of an e-commerce business and a chiropractor’s office.

The patrol car was heavily damaged, but the deputy only suffered minor bumps and bruises, according to Sgt. Richard Nagler, of the Santa Clarita Valley station. He was treated and released.

Nagler said that the other cars involved were eventually stopped and drivers questioned. He did not know whether the first driver was cited or arrested.
