Bus Stop Improvement Program Enhances the Look and Feel of Transit.

Old Bus Stops

To enhance the bus stop environment and attract future riders, the City of Santa Clarita’s Bus Stop Improvement Program has unveiled the new look of local bus shelters.

The Bus Stop Improvement Program (BSIP) is a $2 million project designed to provide comprehensive improvements to the City’s transit amenities and enhance the aesthetics of the community.

The first phase of the project includes replacing bus shelters with solar security lightning, steel strap benches with backs and intermediate armrests, and trash receptacles with covered lids.

"Transit is embarking on a very aggressive campaign to remove all benches with advertisement, replace old and outdated shelters, and add a public art component to 25% of our stop locations in the next year,”

commented Transit Manager Jeff O’Keefe. “These new shelters combined with the on-going developer shelters and the public art component will go a long way in changing the face of transportation amenities within our community," he said.

The program will replace and improve 51 bus shelters and expand and add 40 new shelters. Installation of new shelters, benches, and receptacles will begin by late spring or early summer.
