Auto Club Travel Show


Acclaimed travel writer, actor, and director Andrew McCarthy will discuss his extensive worldwide journeys with those who attend the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Travel Show on Saturday, Nov. 5th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Marriott Warner Center, 21850 Oxnard Street, Woodland Hills, CA 91367.

 

Admissions is free. Parking is $6.00 per vehicle. Those who attend the show are eligible to enter a drawing for a six-day, five-night trip for two to Maui valued at $4,000. RSVP by calling (661) 288-5570; Space is limited. The show is open to both Auto Club members and non-members.

 

The AAA Travel Show will feature two dozen tour, cruise and other travel providers, as well as experienced and knowledgeable AAA Travel agents. Consumers who book their trips at the show will receive special showtime offers such as a Visa gift card of up to $100 with select packages, as well as discounts, upgrades or credits on their travel. Auto Club members qualify for additional member benefits on select travel packages.

 

Travelers can prepare for their journeys by visiting the show to watch luggage packing demonstrations, get travel tips, and enjoy live presentation from travel providers.

 

Westways Travel Editor Elizabeth Harryman and her husband and TravelSmart fellow columnist Paul Lasley will emcee the show and provide their travel insights throughout the day.

 

Andrew McCarthy, who will make two presentations at the show, won the 2010 Society of American Travel Writers’ Lowell Thomas Award for Travel Journalist of the Year. He has published travel articles in the Auto Club’s Westways magazine, as well as Men’s Journal, Atlantic Monthly and National Geographic Traveler.

 

His acting career has spanned from 1980s films such as “Pretty in Pink” to appearances on current TV series “White Collar” and “Royal Pains”. He has directed numerous movies and TV shows, including several episodes of “Gossip Girl”.

 

“I feel more at home in myself the farther away I am from home,” McCarthy told CNN in a 2010 interview, speaking about why he loves to travel, “When I’m out of my routine and dependent on the kindness of strangers… I think I’m a better version of myself. I think most people are.”
