Santa Clarita Business Owners Invited To Employment Law Seminar

Santa Clarita business owners who want to stay updated on the latest changes to state and federal employment law can attend the seminar organized by the local district of Professionals in Human Resources Association.

Staying current on federal and state employment laws is essential to running a business, and District 12 of Professionals in Human Resources Association is offering a local resource for Santa Clarita Valley business owners who want to review the latest changes.

PHIRA is hosting a breakfast meeting on Thursday, Feb. 13 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Embassy Suites in Valencia.

Brian Koegle of Poole & Shaffery will be the keynote speaker, explaining recent legislative changes, administrative decisions and case law that applies to California employers.

During the presentation, Koegle will provide insight and practical suggestions on the following topics.

  • A review of the 2013 legislation, case law and administrative decisions affecting employers
  • An update on wage and hour laws, meal and rest period requirements, overtime compensation and calculations, reasonable accommodation laws and employee privacy
  • An overview of upcoming and anticipated legislative changes and court cases for 2014.

The 2014 Employment Law Update is open to the public, and the registration price includes breakfast and two hours of HR Certification Institute credit for human resources professionals.

Tickets are $65 per person for those who register ahead of time, $75 at the door and $50 each for three or more employees from the same company.
