Santa Clarita Valley residents who are taking care of senior parents or loved ones in their homes can find valuable resources and assistance at Home Care Services Santa Clarita.

In addition to offering professional caregiving services, Home Care Services also offers free resources to anyone who may need help dealing with commons frustrations and safety concerns involved with caring for senior family members.

“It’s a good news situation– we’re living longer and we’re spending that length of time in an active and healthy way, but we just need a little bit of help,” said Rick Ferrante, founder and president of Home Care Services.

While many seniors may not be ready to move to an assisted care facility, simple tasks like transportation, cooking, cleaning, and even things like dressing and bathing can become difficult, Ferrante said.

“You can call a company like ours and hire a caregiver, but for some people that option is not available,” he said. “Then a lot of that role falls on family members. Where is that help for those family members, where are those resources?… Our community hasn’t caught up to that yet.”

About 39 percent of Americans are currently taking care of a loved one in their home, which is a 9 percent increase over the past five years, according to Ferrante.

Home Care Services officials are addressing this jump and the current lack of resources by offering free online articles, videos and more.

“It’s surprising how (often) you can get yourself into a situation where it’s unsafe and how frustrating it can be by doing things not as effectively… both for the person providing the care as well as receiving it,” Ferrante said. “We put together a lot of information that we use to train caregivers and repurposed it for families.”

In addition to caregiver resources, Home Care Services Santa Clarita also offers in-home caregivers, in-home living products, audiology/hearing aids, dietician services, home modifications and safety information, geriatric therapy, financial services and more.
