Red Flag Warning In Effect In Santa Clarita And The Foothills

A red flag warning is still in effect in Santa Clarita and the Foothills until 8pm tonight. With temperatures in the 90s today along with dry weather, 10-15 mph winds and gusts up to 40 mph, critical fire-weather conditions are expected.

“We’ve issued a warning and staffed extra today on all our equipment,” said Capt. Tom Richards, Fire Department PIO, “you can never stop preparing, we prepare every day in the fire dept. and everyone in these areas should prepare at all times.”

Capt. Richards also wanted to remind residents that new “ready, set, go” books are available at your local station to help get your house and your family ready.

KHTS would also like to remind our community to change their smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector batteries at least once a year.
