The 289 job cuts are set to go into effect on March 28 after being announced in November, according to a report from the California Employment Development Department (EDD).

The Boston Scientific Valencia location serves as the headquarters for the company’s neuromodulation business, according to their website.

The company develops, designs and manufactures Implantable Pulse Generators (IPGs), used to stimulate the spinal cord to eliminate neuropathic pain in patients.

Cuts were reportedly part of a plan Boston Scientific officials previously released looking to move jobs from the location to different locations in Minnesota, Puerto Rico and Ireland, said company officials.

Approximately 750 employees work out of the facility, making it the 8th largest employer in the SCV, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation (SCVEDC).

Worldwide, Boston Scientific employs about 26,000 people, according to their 2016 annual report.

“Boston Scientific embraces its responsibility to serve as a strong corporate citizen in the communities where our employees live and work, and the company expects to remain an active community leader. This includes supporting initiatives that strengthen the local community and encouraging employees to volunteer their time and expertise to help others,” a Boston Scientific spokesperson said.

Last March, Boston Scientific officials said they signed a 10-year extension on the lease for the Valencia facility, looking to continue to operate its neuromod division out of the 342,000-square-foot building.

  1. I was on disability. Worked there for 17 years. But, because of my new manager Berj, I don’t know what his intentions were, he just terminated me from employment after working for 17 years This is just absurd. Couldn’t get out of this shock even now. He terminated and hr personnel gia tischler without considering my health situation. They are unfit. The manager came 3 months before I was on disability. I don’t know what he had in his mind. But, it’s not fair from his part and from company aspect.
