“The ‘club sandwich’ generation is literally four generations in the same household,” said Rick Ferrante, founder and president of Home Care Services. “There is a whole (new) dynamic now… Many people are finding that’s the situation they are needing to deal with.”
While Home Care Services can provide in-home assistance through their professional caregiving staff, as well as a variety of products geared toward seniors, Ferrante said his staff can also offer tools, strategies and emotional help for those in need of some guidance.

“When you were in school, you were in high school, you were in college, nobody sat there and gave you a class on how to deal with the sandwich household,” he said. “Whether or not somebody needs that professional help or needs a product or whatever, it doesn’t necessarily matter… Just call, just come in. Whatever it is, let’s talk about it, and a lot of times the solutions are there.”
“There’s no silver bullet to it,” Ferrante continued. “But if you get enough knowledge, you can figure it out. You can put some strategies together, and then get to those advantages– there are some good things about multigenerational households.”
