Knight To Be Recognized For Small Business Support

Congressman Steve Knight, R-Palmdale, will be presented with an award Tuesday for his work helping small businesses, according to a news release from Small Business Investor Alliance officials.

The Small Business Investor Alliance (SBIA), an association of lower middle market private equity funds and investors, will recognize Knight for his support of small business investors by presenting him with the SBIA Champion of Small Business Investing Award.

“Congressman Knight is a strong advocate for Small Business Investment Companies (SBICs) as a key Member of the House Small Business Committee,” said Brett Palmer, President of SBIA. “Congressman Knight’s support  of our legislative efforts to provide new capital to SBICs was critical to the passage of the legislation in Congress.

“Congressman Knight has been instrumental to bringing awareness of the SBIC Program to his district in Palmdale through several efforts including hosting a Small Business Expo in his district featuring representatives of the SBIC industry,” he added.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Knight’s Santa Clarita congressional district office.

SBIA is honoring 21 Members of Congress across the country with this award as recognition for their support of small business investors.

Presenting the Champion of Small Business Investing Award to Congressman Knight will be Ben Hom, Managing Partner of St. Cloud Capital Partners, a Small Business Investment Company based in Los Angeles.

Hom is also the Vice President of the SBIA western regional committee.

SBICs have invested over $3.1 billion in 770 California small business over the past five years.

There are 25 SBICs based in the State of California, including seven in the Los Angeles area.
