In May, Oakmont held a strawberry festival for their residents. Featuring a local piano player for live entertainment, the festival brought a variety of strawberry-themed foods for Oakmont residents.
“We had all kinds of strawberry things you could taste, from strawberry salsa to homemade strawberry ice cream our chef made,” Dembkowski said. “We did strawberry lemonade, and then we did strawberry champagne, which was a big hit.”
Oakmont also hosted a brunch event during Mother’s Day, so that families of Oakmont residents could come together and celebrate their moms.
“We had a beautiful brunch,” Dembkowski said. “We had about 94 guests. That does not include our residents, so our families came out and just celebrated (Mother’s) Day at Oakmont.”
On the weekend of June 9 and 10, Oakmont partnered with the Santa Clarita Artists’ Association to host a day of fine art at Oakmont of Santa Clarita for the third year. The event featured a variety of art from local artists, as well as musical entertainment, hors d’oeuvres, wine and complimentary valet parking.
The Oakmont Art Show is not the only collaboration between the Santa Clarita Artists’ Association and Oakmont of Santa Clarita.
“One of the members of the Artists’ Association, Zony Gordon, she comes in and does classes with our residents and they really enjoy that,” Dembkowski said.
Oakmont’s spacious facilities allows the senior living organization to host the variety of events that they put on.
“Our dining room is a large area which looks like a fancy restaurant,” said Dembkowski. “Then we also have a large activity room which we can convert into more seating, which we have to do when we have these large events.”
There are a total of 24 Oakmont communities ranging from Redding to San Diego, and the Santa Clarita community has about 100 residents, according to Dembkowski.
“Everyone has their own apartment,” Dembkowski said. “They range from 400 square feet all the way up to 1,300 square feet. We do have a memory care community, in which there are some companion options in our Alzheimer’s/dementia/memory care community.”
