Oakmont Of Santa Clarita Set To Host Fire Department For Discussion About Rye Fire

Oakmont of Santa Clarita is set to host firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department this month, listening to them recount their experiences with the Rye Fire.

The Rye Fire, which broke out in December 2017, prompted the evacuation of the Oakmont Senior Living community and the surrounding area.

Fire officials are expected to discuss the strategies and tactics they employed to save Oakmont of Santa Clarita’s property and the other structures around the community.

“Oakmont Senior Living is grateful for the dedicated first responders who sprang into action in
response to this natural disaster,” Oakmont officials said in a statement.

This event will allow Oakmont residents, team members and the general public to thank fire officials for their efforts.

Guests will learn about the challenges of protecting the urban/wildland interface and the benefit of Los Angeles County Fire’s world-class air operations unit, which provides critical rapid response to the citizens of Santa Clarita and Los Angeles County.

The discussion is set to take place at the Oakmont of Santa Clarita, located at 28650 Newhall Ranch Road, on July 27 at 2 p.m.
