Officials from the Santa Clarita senior living community Oakmont of Santa Clarita are continuing to prepare for their grand opening, anticipated in early 2016.

Tours of model home apartments are currently available to seniors interested in both independent and assisted living, with no need to change apartments if their need for assistance changes.

“We’re having residents moving in that don’t require care now, but they’ve got that peace of mind to know when and if their needs change, they don’t have to move again,” said Executive Director Margie Veis. “That the care will come to them with really kind, patient caregivers.”

The 80-unit pet-friendly community, which is located across seven acres of land on Newhall Ranch Road, is still accepting reservations for specific apartments and adding individuals to waitlists for specific floorplans.

“The nice thing about our community is you don’t need to require assistance to live there,” Veis said in an earlier interview. “You might want to move in because you don’t want to cook or clean anymore, or maybe you have a fear that you don’t want to live alone. You’re going to have your apartment, have your independence, have your privacy– but you can take advantage of chef-cooked meals every day, activities, chauffeured transportation… You can still keep your independence, but have that backup.”

A separate wing of the community, called Traditions Memory Care, will be dedicated to meeting the specialized needs of seniors with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Further, all the brand new buildings at Oakmont of Santa Clarita are specifically designed to cater to the needs of seniors.

“Every building is built with purpose for the senior; they’re not buildings that were acquired, that were changed into an assisted living,” she said, “and our staff is the top-level A-team… I had the ability to pick top-notch staff and train them, build a strong team that’s going to be 110 percent dedicated to caring for the seniors of Santa Clarita.”

Residents can enjoy amenities such as a salon & day spa, movie theater, fitness center, activity rooms, library, indoor and outdoor restaurant-style dining, bistro, gardens and walking paths, pet park and wellness center.

Experienced staff members will be available to all residents 24/7, and seniors in need of additional care can choose from a variety of assisted living care plans that meet their needs, including a diabetic wellness program that is not available anywhere else in the SCV.
