Old Town Junction, on Main Street, has been coming to fruition over the past three years, but is a lifelong dream of executive chef and co-owner, Daniel Otto.

“It has been a passion project,” said Otto. “It has been a great journey, but we are excited to finally open to the community.”

Junction is “food forward,” with all of the culinary staff professionally trained and cooking from scratch in the kitchen.

“Everyone on staff is excited about the food,” said Otto. “It is community driven, they can come here and have a great meal.”

The menu at Junction is seasonal, meaning the food changes with the season. This enables the restaurant to serve up the freshest ingredients, he said.

Junction is for any occasion, said Otto, from everything to a brunch, quick bite at lunch or even date night.

But it’s not just the food. There are also several signature cocktails with a unique spin on traditional drinks.

“We are going to have 12 craft cocktails on the menu, and along with the kitchen menu, it will change seasonally,” said Shane Bothwell, assistant general manager.

No matter what your preferred spirit, Junction has “something for everybody,” said Brothwell.

Old Town Newhall is undergoing a revitalization, and Otto feels Junction is a part of the new movement as the area transforms into an arts district.

“There are a lot of great, independent restaurants here in Newhall,” said Otto. “It is great to have that personal connection with someone and actually know their name.”

The executive chef wants Junction to be a “second home” for the people in the community, he added.

Old Town Newhall Junction has been a lifetime in the making for Otto during his 23-year career as a chef.

“Being a young culinarian, it has been a dream to be an entrepreneur and open my own restaurant,” said Otto. “But finally it has come true.”

Otto has been a part of the Santa Clarita community for 20 years, previously serving as executive chef at The Players Club (TPC) and a professor at College of the Canyons.

Otto has won numerous awards and was named the best chef in Santa Clarita for six years in a row, among many others.

“It is very culinary minded out here,” said Otto. “We have put a lot of great chefs into the community at COC.”

The chef is rooted in the community, he said, volunteering his time and serving food at charities across the Santa Clarita Valley.

“Come over and check us out,” said Otto. “I look forward to starting another relationship.”
