Santa Clarita city planners are set to look at plans for a pair of new hotels that would replace the Best Western and add about 170 new hotel rooms in the city.

The plan to be considered Wednesday, Jan 18 would demolish the two-story Best Western at 27413 Wayne Mills Place, and instead add 170 new hotel rooms in two separate locations on the same lot.
If approved, the Best Western would be replaced by a 182-room, 75-foot tall Residence Inn/Springhill Suites hotel and a 108-room, 65-foot tall Holiday Inn Express hotel at the same address, according to city planners.
The project was initially brought to the city in June, according to city officials.
“Following testimony from the public, the applicant agreed to add a condition to the project that would address pedestrian cut-through traffic by installing a fence between the property located to the east of the project site,” according to city planning documents.
Following the previous Planning Commission discussion, staff asked the applicant to review the operations at the Tourney Road/Wayne Mills Place intersection and directed the applicant to review the site plan to determine if additional parking stalls could be provided.
The proposed 290 hotel rooms require 290 parking stalls based upon a 1:1 parking stall/room ratio required in the city’s code — however, the final version contains 286 spaces, according to documents.
The city’s Planning Commission staff is recommending approval of the project to the group, which will review the plan at a hearing Wednesday.
Here’s the most recent agenda item.
If there is one parking space per room (sometimes two cars will have people in the same room) and the hotel is full then where is the staff parking. This is just another blunder waiting to happen….
Seems to be, most rooms will be filled by two people arriving in one car–problem solved!
I just hope they have plans for a banquet room. We were so happy to have the Hyatt, but they’ve priced themselves out of the market. It’s sad when 90% of the income from all non-profit fund-raisers now goes to the venue ;-( Back to the Odyssey?
