Due to his extensive involvement in local nonprofit organizations and his willingness to donate food, gift certificates and restaurant space to charities, Amsler has become known as “the man who never says no,” according to the SCV Man and Woman of the Year website.

“Myself and my staff volunteer a lot of hours through Salt Creek, and we also do a lot of donations as far as food is concerned for different charities and their nonprofit organizations,” he said, adding that’s the way he was brought up.

“My parents were extremely active in nonprofits, and for me it’s kind of a natural way of doing business and a way of life,” he continued. “That’s the only way I ever knew how to do our business and how to be involved in the community.”

Amsler recently partnered with Ethan Dettenmaier of Combat Radio to donate toys, food and a holiday experience for families in need with his annual “Breakfast with Santa” event at Salt Creek.

“For the past four years, we’ve been doing ‘Breakfast with Santa,’ where our staff donates their time and we donate the food,” he said. “We provide toys, a visit with Santa and breakfast for homeless and needy families.”

Hosted at the restaurant in Valencia on December 6, Amsler said the event typically serves anywhere from 400 to 500 breakfasts.
