“Nobody wants to think about their parents or somebody else having this need or being in this situation,” said Rick Ferrante, founder and president of Home Care Services. “So when it occurs, all kinds of things come into play that you don’t think about… We do caregiving, but you need more than that. You need the whole package.”

By partnering with professionals who specialize in the needs of seniors, Home Care Services is able to provide the community with assistance in almost any topic related to caring for senior loved ones.

“We’re not attorneys, but we have a great attorney that comes in that can talk to people about the things that elder care law requires,” Ferrante added. “We’re not physicians, we’re not nurses– we are a resource for all of it. We bring in those partners that can help.”

Individuals struggling with their loved one’s finances can meet financial services specialists who can offer money-saving tips, assistance with budgeting, reverse mortgages, investment vehicles and more.

“There’s no silver bullet; money doesn’t just appear,” Ferrante said, “but there are ways that you can make that money last longer. I’m not a financial advisor, but we’ve got good people that can help with that and look at what it is that you really need.”

Professional caregivers can help individuals with non-medical care, such as getting around the house, bathing, dressing, meal preparation, light housekeeping, transportation and more. While caregivers can monitor and help people with their medications, they do not administer it, according to Ferrante.

“We look at those people out in the community that are caregivers, and we spend a lot of time screening, evaluating, training, doing orientations and managing those caregivers,” he said. “We’ll do assessments and match those caregivers with a senior, or it could be somebody that just has an illness or injury.”
