Goodman, an insurance agent from Farmers Insurance, explained that everyone should always stay up to date with their policies and coverage plans.

“It’s always good that it’s explained to you what coverages you have and what they do,” said Goodman.

He explained that visiting your insurance agent is just as important as going to visit your doctor or dentist every year.

Goodman explained that everyone should be aware and educated on their deductible when it comes to car insurance. Sometimes there is a need to call an agent and sometimes there isn’t after an incident, based on your deductible.

Goodman went on to say that the best time to get life insurance is when you’re younger.

“I got my first life insurance policy when I was 22 years old and I still have that life insurance policy,” said Goodman. “If you have a life insurance policy and you have some type of medical issue, if you get the right policy, that policy will last you forever, but if you have a medical issue and you try to get life insurance, you can (be) declined.”

Besides car insurance and homeowners insurance, Goodman noted that life insurance and a million-dollar personal umbrella is what everyone should have.

Based on your assets, people should get a million-dollar personal umbrella to cover their assets, in case there is a catastrophic loss or liability claim.

When it comes to purchasing earthquake insurance, Goodman said that is based on how comfortable you want to feel.

“We all know there is going to be an earthquake in Southern California at some time,” he said.

Goodman ended the interview explaining that most people in Santa Clarita own a house and it is their primary asset, therefore those residents should have some coverage for their primary asset.
