KHTS: What makes this seminar different?

SBDC Director Steven Tannehill: “We have partnered with the governors office of economic development, this was an effort that former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger made to pull together in Sacramento key agencies that deal with business support and activities into one office.” “We have formed a three way partnership between the Governors office of economic development, business match making and the SBDC to create a State wide program that is allowing us to bring talent in from across the Country.”

KHTS: Who are the speakers?

SBDC Director Steven Tannehill: “When you talk about social media, we will have an executive from Yelp there that will tell you first hand how social media works.” “And similarly, we will have National figures from AT&T here in the ‘procurement’ side to talk about how you can access AT&T from a ‘procurement standpoint.”   The Speakers include Darnell Halloway from Yelp, Evan Lazarus, LazBro, Inc, TBT AT&T, Danetta Jackson California Department of General Services and Pamela Smith-Cressel, U.S. General Services Administration.

KHTS: Are the speakers nationally known?

SBDC Director Steven Tannehill: “Yes.” “We are bringing in speakers from the State level and the National Level.”

KHTS: I understand there are four components? SBDC Director Steven Tannehill: Capitalization, “There is always a need for businesses to grow and expand.” International Trade, “85% of small businesses do not export and there are more consumers overseas and growth anticipate overseas than domestically.” “It is a scary thing for a lot of people.” Procurement, “Is getting products and services sold and gaining relationships with large players who buy products from small businesses.” Social Media, “This continues to be of great interest to the small business community, there is a wealth and ever growing landscape for social media.”

KHTS: Is it free?

SBDC Director Steven Tannehill: “Yes.” “It is at no cost, lunch is included and it is at the Hyatt in Valencia.”

KHTS: Is there any more information that you would like to share?

SBDC Director Steven Tannehill: “We have worked very hard at the Small Business Development Center at College of the Canyons to bring this event to Santa Clarita, we hope that everyone comes and takes advantage.”
