Instead of being staffed with salespeople like some competitors, Surfaces USA is filled with experienced, trained interior designers that can help with all aspects of kitchen and bathroom remodels, according to owner and interior designer Jen Brown.Santa Clarita Design Center Surfaces USA

“We can help from picking out materials, finding out what’s most practical for the way you and your family live in the home– do you have pets, do you have kids, how do you utilize the area –to finding the right materials, staying within your budget, helping you put together a budget…” Brown said. “So we can help with all facets of it, and being an interior designer just kind of helps set the foundation for all of that.”

While other design centers may sub-contract out, Surfaces USA can complete the entire process, from demo to installation, using their own crews. However, if a customer has their own contractor they trust, or wants to do it themselves, their project manager will work with them to help make the process go more smoothly for everyone.

“I like being there from the start to the finish,” Brown said. “That way I can make sure it’s a smooth transition for everybody… If someone has their particular contractor they want to work with, we still want to comingle that, and that way it helps the process be so much easier.”

The Surfaces USA project manager can also help their customer prepare for potential inconveniences that come with remodeling, like how long they will need to eat out or do their dishes in the bathroom, Brown added.

“There’s so many things that come into play that you don’t take into consideration,” she said. “These are the types of things we kind of help prepare you for and help minimize the time you’re actually inconvenienced.”

While a full master bathroom remodel typically takes about two weeks from demo to completion, secondary bathrooms usually take about one week. Because of the larger inconvenience of being without a kitchen, the timeline for a kitchen remodel is usually only one to two days, according to Brown.

“The way we do our kitchens, you’re really only inconvenienced for one to two days,” she said. “We try and leave everything in tact until the day we install, then we demo, we install, a crew comes in to do your backsplash and you’re back up and running within two days. We try to minimize the inconvenience.”

As the only slab yard in the Santa Clarita Valley, Surfaces USA carries a variety of high quality porcelain, natural stone and ceramic materials that can be seen on display at their showroom in Castaic.
