Santa Clarita got little more ‘super’ this week with the addition of a Tesla charging station in the Bridgeport Marketplace.

A Tesla Supercharger with 24 stations was installed in Valencia to add to the growing number of electric vehicle charging stations in the SCV, according to Holly Schroeder CEO of the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation.
“California continues to lead the way with its adoption of electric vehicles,” said Schroeder. “While the number of electric vehicles on the road is still under 5 percent of the total vehicle fleet, that number has risen 53 percent in the last five years.”
As battery prices continue to fall, and the range of electric vehicles continues to grow, that number will only increase, she added.
“It is sure to increase here in the Santa Clarita Valley as new and existing developments install electric vehicle charges, increasing convenience for owners of these vehicles,” Schroeder said. “Moreover, as Net Zero Newhall comes into fruition, each home in the new community will have electric vehicle charging stations, electric school buses and community transportation options, and 2000 charging stations throughout the community.”
This development will help put the SCV on the map as a leader in electric vehicle technology, innovation and sustainable growth, explained Schroder.
The Tesla Supercharger network is a system of fast-charging stations to allow longer journeys for their all-electric manufactured vehicles (Model S, 3 and X), through quick charging of the vehicle’s battery packs.
There are over 1,000 stations around the globe, according to Tesla.
Located in the Bridgeport Marketplace parking lot, this charging station is the first of its kind in the Santa Clarita Valley with 24 charging stations.
