Last month Vartanian volunteered at an SCV elementary school, teaching kindergarteners, first graders and fourth graders about money. A member of the banking industry for 16 years and a Union Bank employee since 2011, Vartanian emphasized the importance of the relationship between bank employees and the community they serve.

“All the banks are relatively the same as far as offering a product,” he said, “and what sets a bank or a retail apart from another retail is your customer service and what you do for the community and the customers who are walking in and out of your branches every day.”
