Shortly after the “unexpected closing” of Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery, the owners announced Tuesday that they’re rebranding the Valencia restaurant as Varsity Draft House.

“I noticed so many rumors going around and knew we had to make a statement. (Monday) was a very hectic day,” said Varsity Draft House General Manager Richard Moore. “I heard a lot of things like our rent increased, we were out of business. We had not gone under like a lot of people have been saying — we’re rebranding the pub to separate ourselves from Tilted Kilt.”
Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery Closes, Varsity Draft House To Replace
The Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery in the Valencia Town Center closed Sunday, officials said Monday.
The new pub will be more “family-friendly” and that the servers will no longer be wearing the “breastaurant-style” garb, Moore said. The new uniforms will be more “casual” with employees wearing jeans, a T-shirt and sneakers.
Management of the bar held a meeting Monday with all of the employees in which management announced the change and offered employees the option to stay with the new restaurant or have a letter of recommendation to stay at Tilted Kilt.
“We were alerted (Monday) of the unexpected closing at the Valencia pub,” said Kelly McNamara, spokeswoman of Fisherman PR for Tilted Kilt’s corporate office. “We have been well received in the Valencia market since opening in February 2012.”
Management is planning to reopen the pub Jan. 9 at 5 p.m.
“Everyone is very, very excited,” Moore said. “The owners love Valencia. We felt we can better serve the employees and community buy rebranding our pub. We’re extremely excited and we hope that the new concept is well received by the Santa Clarita Valley.”
Management plans to have a menu with “lots of burgers and a very big representation of some seafood,” he said adding that “ the selection is going to be very vast.”
“We tried to build a menu that we thought gives something for every taste for whoever to walks through the door,” Moore said. “We’re sports oriented. We have over 50 televisions, 10 satellites. We wanted to make this a place for families.”
“We’re looking at longterm strategy,” he added. “We’re going to be here for the long haul.”

Nice change!
People have complained how square Valencia is for a long time and Tilted was one of the only places that was different. Adults need somewhere to go have fun too. Every place in Valencia is family friendly and we don’t need another. We need places with live music, fun themes, etc.. like the valley. Upscale clean places like Tilted are fine, and everything doesn’t have to be family. I like not having kids running around while I’m watching a game. I predict they will be out of business by next year like all of the other family restaraunts that have been there. I wish them luck.
You nailed it. Didn’t last 5 months. Their family friendly
Never heard of Varsity Draft House, I guess it’s a reboot?
I never visited the Tilted Kilt because of the disrespectful costumes. The manner in which the serving staff was dressed strongly advertised the opinions and goals of management. I am totally open to (and greatly appreciate!) the owners decision to make this a family friendly pub and grill. Will check it out and see if my family, children included, are welcome here by the attitude and dress decisions made by management.
I loved the Tilted Kilt.
The food was great, and the servers friendly and nice.
I was there for trivia every week.
Over the years the waitresses became friends.
I’m really glad they all got to keep their jobs.
I look forward to returning to their new place.
Well first off this place was horrible want even a real pub because people In this city don’t know what a real pub is and second the girls all looked like they were on drugs or just dirty and the food was horrible
California is lucky that Santa Clarita is not a beach city where women are forbidden from wearing anything other than church clothes. Not allowing strip clubs is one thing but pressuring the Kilt owners into opening another family restaurant is just crossing the line. I definitely wont be the one to suggest that my group of friends meet here for dinner or drinks.
Good move!! This place stunk of mold and odors. The food was awful and only a handful of the girls were decent, the others looked like they had depency problems. I would consider retrying this place again.
I’m a fairly new rsident of the SCV, so the adress would be nice. Ive been to Tilted Kilt in other cities, ancd would love go check out Varsity, but, where is it?
Don’t go there. It’s a horrible place. Don’t look away from your stuff because the waitress might steal from you . The food is also bad drinks not great. Try big wang instead
We used to go there ALLL the time I mean ALL the time. I have no clue why though, only thing good about it was the TVs and drinks. The food sucked, waitresses sucked in customer service & thier apperence, & it smelt horribly rotten. It be nice if they had a whole new staff too, if it’s going to be “family friendly” they need some friendly servers!
You know, when I decided I hated McDonalds, I never went to McDonald’s again.
It’s really that easy. When I decided I didn’t like a show. I got up and changed the channel.
Not brain surgery.
Also, wishing anybody out of a job is bad form.
They’re supporting themselves, and their families with this job.
I don’t like you, and I really do hope that you remain employed to support you and your people.
Don’t understand how Varsity is suppose to be a family friendly place when the waitress steals from you and they don’t do anything about it. I will never take my family there or go there again with friends. Most horrible place every!!!
I thought Tilted Kilt was an awesome place. It was a great getaway from the desert. But now that it’s “family friendly”, why should I spend my money, gas and time to come down there when I could stay up here and be bored at any of these family friendly places. I’ll give it a try someday but my first impression after reading this is WHY?????
First and only time I went to the Tilted Kilt, I ordered a shot and and a beer. I was shorted on the shot. Maybe a half shot at $10.
I’m looking for a not so family friendly restaurant, sometimes my wife and I just need to get away from our own, and other people’s children for a nice meal.
All I can say is YAY!! I’m all for adults having a place of their own and not necessarily all restaurants in SCV having to be ‘family friendly’, but there is no reason that waitresses need to be dressed as tramps & hoes while handling people’s food. These types of restaurants set bad examples for both genders, exploit women for one their bodies and men for their weakness. Until women are valued for something other than their bodies, we will continue to have issues that feed off the objectification of women…rape, molestation, a-holes filming women in bathrooms, dressing rooms, trafficking, etc..
“We’re going to be here for the long haul.”
….and they didn’t even last a year.
Bring back Tilted Kilt, but set it at the standards of the other Tilted Kilts I’ve been to.
