This morning, a speeding Chevy Tahoe lost control and broke a fire hydrant loose and sent gallon after gallon of water spilling out over Valencia blvd near the intersection of Cinema Dr, shutting down the road in both directions for nearly an hour .
Traffic was substantially backed up as a result of the incident, as Valencia Blvd is a main road that connects Valencia with the rest of Santa Clarita.
Overall, the car passed through the fire hydrant, hit a tree, and busted a fence surrounding a car dealership that is under construction. It then went through the open space and went off an embankment onto the bicycle path below.
Both the driver and the one passenger in the car sustained only minor injuries and refused to be taken to the hospital.
